We are claiming
the world record for the longest running licensed
overseas bridge event. In October 2008 we will
be
celebrating our 37th consecutive holiday at this
very special location. The S'Algar resort with
its
fine hotel and apartments has been the setting
for Menorcan Bridge Holiday for over 36 years.
It is
renowned for its warm welcoming atmosphere and
is superbly situated on the sea front. It is
situated
less than 20 minutes from the airport. To ensure
you get the maximum from your holiday you have
the
widest choice of accommodation, departure airports,
activities and bridge events. Choose between
hotel
rooms and apartments. Hotel: All bedrooms
are self-contained with television, telephone, bath,
shower and own balcony. Apartments: The apartments
are situated about 150 meters from the S'Algar Hotel.
Each apartment consists of two twin bedrooms, living
room, kitchen, dining area, bathroom and a large
balcony or terrace.
All accommodation is full board and meals
will be taken in the Hotel dining room with the
option of lunching at one of the many poolside snack
bars. Free wine with lunch, Free tea/coffee during
the afternoon bridge sessions.
Please Note:
Demand for apartments and sea-view hotel rooms can
exceed supply. If you have a specific accommodation
request please book early to avoid disappointment.
Smoking is not permitted in the playing
area but a smoking room immediately adjacent is
available.
Resort Activities:
Those not wishing to spend all their time playing
bridge will find facilities for many other
sports
and activities within S'Algar, most of which are
free. swimming pools galore, four floodlit
tennis
courts, (we try and organise tennis most days with
friendly tennis competitions amongst the bridge
group.) paddle tennis, a 6 rink bowling green,
archery
and rifle shooting. There's also table tennis,
boules and a golf driving net. You can hire
bowling rinks
individually or play in some of the organised bowls
competitions. Dependent on ability some bowlers
are invited to compete against the local bowlers.
Water sports are under the supervision of the
Club
S'Algar Diving you can try scuba diving, improve
your diving skills, or just dive for fun. The
diving
is supervised by licensed diving instructors. There
is also water skiing, windsurfing, dingy sailing
or even parascending. For the non-playing bridge
partner or for those who seek a break from
the bridge
table there is a full and varied free entertainment
programme every evening.
Further Afield:
The capitol, Mahon, is only four miles away and
is perfect for shopping. Look out especially
for
suede and leather ware, the local cheese and gin
or some costume jewellery and attractive ceramics.
A little further afield you can occasionally
watch
cricket or have a round on the Island's challenging
fourteen - hole golf course.
